Should i complain about my daughters teacher?

On wednesday at breaktime my 11 year old daughter and her friend were talking about what teachers they like/dislike. My daughter had said that she found one of the teachers a bit scary as she shouts alot and is quite strict.
On friday morning the teacher who my daughter had said is scary came and took my daughter out of class and over to her classroom where she proceeded to yell at my daughter in front of all the other pupils basically saying " who did my daughter think she was", when my daughter tried to explain herself the teacher just yelled more saying " who did my daughter think she was talking to".
I know that in hindsight my daughter shouldnt have said anything about this teacher but i think the situation could have been dealt with a lot better. I mean,who hasn't discuused their teachers with friends when they were young? Should i phone and speak to the headteacher about this or just leave it?

As a teacher, I can see that this teacher made a mistake by doing this in front of the class. I would complain about that.

But.

You might want to make sure your daughter is giving you the full story. You were a kid once, you know you didn't give your parents the complete truth sometimes. Perhaps more happened with this teacher than your daughter is mentioning.

I would schedule a conference with the teacher, principal, and your daughter to get everything worked out. And please don't go in attacking the teacher, go in with an open minded attitude, and that will make it much easier for all involved.

Remember, it is your responsibility to take care of your daughter, but what do you teach her if you go in screaming at a teacher and your daughter could also possibly be at fault?

I'm a kid and yes, we talk bad about teachers all the time. We try to do it on the bus or places we know the teacher or anyone else might be. My grandma said it best, "If you're a teacher and don't think they talk bad about you, or have nasty names for you, you honestly shouldn't have been a teacher." The teacher should defianly just ignored it because it wasn't like they were or planning on throwing anything at the teacher. Talking to the head teacher or whatever might be allittle over the top but maybe you might want to talk to the teacher herself because maybe there were other things that you didn't know about. She might just be under a lot of stress and just trying to deal with things.

It is normal for every person to dislike at least one teacher. This is a very annoying situation. I have almost been in the position of that girl before. I was bullied in primary school, and I never did anything wrong. I had no friends, whenever I tried to make some they rejected me. One day a girl was complementing another persons work, and mixed up her words. He friends laughed, and so did I, because it was funny. They all glared at me, and were whispering to each other. Then one of them started pretending to cry, while another girl got up and told on me. The teacher believed her and said, "Did you put down this girl?" whenever I tried to explain the teacher interrupted and said "Do you know who you are talking to?" So he took me outside the classroom where everyone could see me, other classes too, and yelled his head off at me. I don't have a clue what he was saying, because I knew I was right, and whatever he said was not. Luckily, my mum came around the corner and witnessed this. She immediately took sides with me (after I got a chance to explain) and yelled at him. I moved schools and never went back there again, after mum took me home early.

She was brilliant, I will never forget it, and neither would your daughter if you complained. I think you should. Everybody thinks at least one teacher is strict. No matter what, her teacher can't give you an after school detention! And you can make sure she doesn't either, warn the teacher and explain why. If this is not effective, try to ask her, "surely, when you were my daughters age, you would have thought the teachers were strict. How would you like it? etc"
