...mountain biking and hiking? I've got a Nikon Coolpix S300 digital camera which is great to have slipped in a pocket or bag in town but not so good to have skiing, mountain biking and hiking. I have had a look at the camera and quiet like its features and specs. With christmas coming up i want to know weather it is worth putting on my christmas list and need to know sharpish.
 
I don't have any first hand experience with this camera. That said I have owned Pentax products for a long time, and recently (11/2010) purchased a Pentax Kx a DSLR which performs as well as the most popular (on this site) Canons and Nikons.

Although I am a professional photographer, each camera has it's strengths and weaknesses. So I place about 15% on camera reviews and the rest on either first hand knowledge (somebody I know) or customer reviews on both amazon and B&H photo.
