Should I get a samsung captivate or Iphone 4?

I cant decide. My one friend keeps bragging that Android is soooooooo much better than ios. What makes it any better? The thing that worries me the most is the quality of the Android apps. Is Android's apps just as good as the iphone 4's apps if not better or are they not as good?
