I was thinking about asking for an ipad for christmas as my parents always get me one big gift, but I wanted to know the opinion of those who have one. Is it worth the money?
No, do not get one. It may look cool right now but you need to be patient and wait for the 2nd (or maybe even 3rd) generation to come out. It will have more features and the existing ones will be improved. For instance, the 1st gen doesn't have a camera and the typing is very flawed. These will both be fixed. Never get the first generation of an Apple product, they always release a mediocre version first so they can make money off of the people who just can't wait, and then they release th improved versions. It's really pretty smart. I personally will never get one because it's just a big ipod touch except more expensive and less portable. I suppose it might be fun if you were just going to play around with it, but how long will that last? I was excited when i got my ipod touch and i got a whole bunch of apps and played them every day. 2 months later i forgot about the apps and only every turned on the ipod to listen to music. It's just a new toy. But maybe you won't get tired of it, you have to decide.
