Should I do this? My sick rat is in no way contagious and he is not aggressive or cranky. I know he won't mind the new rat. He loves my friends young rat so I know he will be tolerant. Plus they have a very large cage, almost 4 feet by 4 feet. I am pretty sure this is okay, I guess I just want a second opinion.
The title might of sounded harsh so I will explain. I have two male rats. One of them has a brain tumour and is growing very sick. I need to have him put down. I am getting a new rat to keep my other rat company so he isn't all alone when my dear Rocko is gone. I am thinking of putting all three together while I am waiting for Rocko's appointment. It would only be for a few days. I figure it would be less stress full for the other rat if he was used to the NEW rat before his buddy passes. That way he sees the new one as a friend and not an intruder or a threat. Thanks :)
