should i repaiar my acura rsx or sell it?

i bought my acura rsx type s with 137,000 miles. A month later from buying, i found out it was burning oil. this broke my catalytic converter. My friend said it was probably my piston rings. This guy quoted me 5,000 dollars for both engine rebuilt and the converter. i only drive on the weekends and burns about 1 qt. per 1000 miles. Everything else is ok, the interior, exterior, and clutch. KBB says in fair condition is about 7,500. is it consider in poor condition? Is it worth fixing or should i try to sell it or trade in? i
no warranty, i bought it from this guy from craigslists, everything ran well when i drove it. i bought for 7,500 dollars he was the original owner.
 
did you have any type of warranty? I would sell and use the money to buy something else that's in better condition.
