I own the above-mention equipment (you know--the red sphere thing) and I've been fairly satisfied with its quality (especially since it's like 10 years old and was really cheap). In case you were wondering, the specific model is the PD6870RD. Now I know you're probably thinking that this thing is a piece of crap, but it is quite portable and I like all the features it has so I've kept it as my home CD player for a while. The problem started today. I was listening to a CD and suddenly i heard these little fuzzy pop noises. Eventually, it became fairly frequent (1 pop every 20 seconds about). I shut it down and checked the CD which was in perfect condition. I also removed some dust that was inside the player. I tried again but this time I used a different CD just in case that was the problem. I experienced the same thing except this time there were also these weird moments when the music would just stop, 2 or 3 seconds would pass and then the music would continue. Also, changing the volume mid-song made a fuzz noise when I turned the dial. Is there some easy fix like a piece I need to clean to correct this problem? I was just using it last week and the player didn't have any of these problems then or any other time i can remember in the past. Is there any advice for fixing it or should I just get a new stereo? Any suggestions for a new stereo should be fairly cheap and not too much bigger than my existing one. I also like that it can play cassettes, cds, and radio so keep that in mind.

Thanks!
