...loss? I recently sold the bulk of my massive personal comic book collection, which I had been amassing for some 35 years. I kept the issues that were worth money and sold the less-rare ones. I basically received 18 cents an issue for the collection, which is a lot less than I could have made from it if I had sold issues and runs individually, but I just wanted to get rid of them. Considering that I paid near cover price for most of these, the sale ends up being a huge loss for me. My question is: Do I bother reporting the income from the sale on my taxes, since there would be no Capital Gains? I have no idea how I would calculate or prove the worth of the collection I sold. I have a list of the comics sold, but not the grade/condition of them.
