I always thought that salt should be cooked, so I generally avoid sprinkling salt into curries after they have been cooked. But recently, my frnd told me that it wasnt a good practice. cooking the salt hampers the iodine, hence it is good to have it raw. Any thoughts?

Salt is meant to be versatile. It can be used for whatever you want. As for the iodine, temperature will not damage it and as long as your taking a multi vitamin your good :). Iodine was added in the early 1900s i believe to stop goiters from occuring because people were not taking in iodine. Also salt brings out the flavors in food so if your not adding salt WHILE cooking your going to have less flavor than if you did add it :)
