Showdown, Week 20: Zach Johnson vs. David Toms

So in an attempt to inject a bit more life and interest into tournaments, and because we're both inveterate gamblers who are one bad card from being out on the streets, Jay Busbee and I are playing a golf version of a football suicide pool: We each pick one golfer per tournament and see how they do against each other, straight up. Victory over the other guy gets one point, victory in the tournament gets three points. And when we burn a golfer, he's done for the year. This week, we hit up beautiful Colonial, and the always fun Texas swing. Yeehaw!

Busbee: We haven't heard much out of Zach Johnson lately. But comfort at a course is always essential, and since Ben Hogan isn't in the field this week, I'll take the defending champ. He's riding ten straight rounds in the 60s at Colonial, which is good enough for me. I also like Jason Day and David Toms. I say that because the guys I don't pick end up having great weeks, so I want it on record that I'm fairly close to a prognosticating genius.

Bacon: It's sad that the Shreveport locals didn't even get to watch David Toms' Sunday run at the Players, but don't fret folks, because he is going to have a massive encore this week in Fort Worth! He has two top-threes at this event over his career, and I expect a big week out of the man that just missed out on his second HUGE career win.

Last week: Busbee's pick of Ben Crane was the best, as Mr. Snake Shaker himself finished at 2-under while Bacon's pick of Adam Scott missed the cut.

Overall record: Busbee 12, Bacon 10.
