SIDEKICKS.. in australia. T-MOBILE. help please.?

can you use sidekicks, and other phones say from t-mobile outside of america/canada.
not on a plan of course, but just the mobile itself.
i like the LX sidekicks.
we have the hiptop slide here, but its way too chunky.
also, are there any other similar phones like ones ive mentioned available in australia?
 
i dont live in austrailia, but we dont have tmobile here [i live in alaska] so you can go on ebay and order pre-paid SIMS cards, then when they get here you just stick them in your sidekick and go =] but the number is long distance, so if people call you it would cost them.
