...my left knee........? On Dec 23, 2010 I slipped and fell on ice in front of my apartment building and broke my right ankle and dislocated my left knee. I will have to have reconstructive surgery now since physical therapy did not correct the disclocation of my knee cap, and broken bone fractures in the knee. My landlady never salted the sidewalks and I was always careful, this one just slipped up on me (no pun intended). I have been out of commission since Dec 23rd and today, March 7, 2011 my walking cast just came off and my ankle still hurts and is very swollen. I am pretty upset because my landlady never even sent me a get well card or anything. I finally had to get an attorney because I did not think it was fair that Medicare pay the bills for the accident that happened on her property. I know the attorneys will get almost half of what I get, but I wonder about how much the settlement will be. Lastly I was told I will probably need a total knee replacement in the future. All this due to a slip and fall. I'm 57 years old and never broke anything before. I really need to decide if I will only have the arthroscopic surgery or the knee reconstruction surgery (per the ortho doctor). I don't know what to do and I'm very unhappy and utterly depressed. I've had tons of physical therapy. Any idea of how much I will receive in the settlement? No amount can fix what has hapened, but I'm just curious.
