I will be trading in my old big clunky SUV soon for either a Mercury Milan or a Mercury Mariner. I have definitely narrowed my choices to these two vehicles. I am having trouble deciding, so I thought I would get some strangers' opinions. Here are my pro's and cons for each vehicle. Mariner Pro's : I live in a more northern climate-I will NOT be getting a 4WD model, but I would assume the mere weight of the vehicle and it being higher off the ground would make it better in snow than a sedan would be. (If anyone feels otherwise and doesn't like the Mariner non-4WD in bad weather please tell me!) I have two larger dogs-one Lab and one Australian Shepherd. I don't take them places frequently but if and when I do it would be nice to have them not laying on my backseat drooling. I would have space for them in the back. I will have a place to tie a Christmas tree or other large items-on the roof rack Mariner Cons: The model I would be getting would not have leather, which is something I had wanted. I cannot stand dog hair blowing around the vehicle and lint transferring from my clothes and then sticking to the seats, so I would need to order leather/vinyl seat covers for front and back. The gas mileage is 21/28, certainly not bad (and better than the 17/22 I get now) but I drive 15 miles each way to work and back, so I am looking to save money. Milan Pros: The model I would be getting has leather and is a slightly more upscale model, with Sync capabilities (I am terrible about talking on cell while driving) And ambient lighting. I like the perks Great gas mileage! It would save me quite a bit. Milan Cons: Nowhere to put the dogs except on the leather seats with a blanket under them. I would love some opinions-thanks
