French scientists report that the venom of the deadly black mamba snake may be a better painkiller than morphine. In testing done on mice, specific properties of the snake's venom were found to be a powerful analgesic, without the unpleasant side effects that can come along with morphine (headaches, vomiting, serious addiction).
