So my exercise bikes take 6 volts?

I accidentally plugged it in with the dc that is 12 volts. Some smokes came out of it, and now it's not working at all. What could I possibly burn so that I can go and buy a new part to get this resolved?
It produced smokes and smells too.

It's a $200 bike, buy a new one, parts and qualified service will cost about the same unless you happen to know an electrical engineer or someone that is handy w/a voltmeter and has a basic knowledge of dc circuits.
