So I used to get a bit more hp's out of my '95 dodge dakota...quite a bit more. I could cruise up some hill in 4 gear. Now I have to drop it into second to even make it...yea sucks.. A mechanic told me it was burning rich (because the exhaust smelled pretty bad). Told me to replace the air filter. That help a tad bit - but not a lot. Things that have been ruled out: • Not spark plugs - just had them done in may • Not catalytic converter • Not air filter - just replaced Problems: •Truck accelerates really slow - I can get up to 65mph it just takes like 45 seconds or more. • When I come to a traffic light and step on the brake (with clutch in) when it's cold the engine shudders like it's going to shut off for a moment. • Has "weak spots" in cruising. I cant cruise between 50 and 55 mph - it always decelerates - but cruises fine at 55 - 60. • Same goes for acceleration curve (or lack thereof) but when I pass a "weak spot" there are "strong spots" that I accelerate quite rapidly...the way it's supposed to normally. Please help me! I'm sick of traffic piling up behind me while I accelerate or not being able to tow anything! I hate waiting at stop signs forever because I have to wait for huge openings in traffic! Anyways thanks for your help!!!
