Sometimes I can't feel my fingers and toes....?

My fingers and toes are always purple. Sometimes I can't even feel my fingers and toes. For example, about half an hour ago, I was typing up a report on the computer and I suddenly couldn't feel my pinkies. I still cannot feel them! Also, this morning I could not feel any of my toes. But after a while the feeling came back. Why is this? My dad is an RN I told him that I couldn't feel my fingers earlier and he said that I need to see a cardiologist. Do you think I have a heart problem? I don't know exactly what this could be....
