Help! I bought this new gerbil for my old gerbil because they're supposed to be in pairs, right? And I ask the guy how am I supposed to introduced this new gerbil to the old one(which I've had for a month now) without them fighting and he told me that i should take the floor covering or whatever that stuff is and put a little in the box where the new one is so that the new one has the smell of the old one. So I did that & I kept him there for 10-15min because he had told me that I really didn't need to keep him long in there and when I introduced them together they started smelling each other and then they began fighting. Now this is the worst part. I was so freaked out I grabbed the new gerbil out and he bit me so hard that I started bleeding. So I threw him because of the panic of how hard he bit-something I'm very well aware of I shouldn't have done- and then I grabbed him quickly and put him in the box I brought him from. A few questions: 1. Can I introduce them again together or is too late? Was it that maybe I introduced them too quickly? 2. Is he going to be okay? He didn't fell from a very high altitude but I'm still worried. I didn't mean to do it, I just panicked! =,( 3. And when he bit me I kept on bleeding a LOT. There's blood on the floor and on the box and it wouldn't stop bleeding until I put a bandage on it. Should I go to the hospital or am I going to be okay? I bought him from PetSmart and they're "Vet Assured" I just came up with an idea. I think it sounds good. IDK if it will be effective. I can put my new gerbil, who BTW is named Pepper and put him in Speedy's exercise ball and introduce the ball to the tank where Speedy is now. Is that a good idea?
