Speeding Up the internet?

Hi guys.Could anybody give me a few tips on how to optimize or even increase my internet connection speed cos its just plain slow even though it *says* its broadband.If it helps i live in Bangladesh.

4.Upgrade your modem.
5.Surf when internet traffic is low.Internet traffic is usually high during weekend and evening time.
Then check your internet speed using the site Scanmyspeed.com .Here they measure your speed in Mbps.
