spring/summer haircut/trim/style??? (for new look)?

ok so my hair is verry long about an inch or two below my bust and dark brown with golden brown highlights. i am considering getting a new look for summer, but not too short, since i love long hair and have had it for years. any ideas? or any ideas about different styles to beat the heat :) thanks
p.s. i dont think id want to go shorter than shoulder length

Everyone I know is wearing their hair like this. As for the actual cut, I'd pretty much just trim it up a little bit and possibly add a few layers. ;)
 
i'm thinking get about an inch trimmed off the bottom, get longer layers that end about 2 inches above the rest of your hair, long bangs and perhaps trade the dark brown for chocolate brown to really shimmer in the sun
 
You can go to lifetime.com they have a makeover site where you can put your picture and see what you look like with various styles, I would be real careful before you do any cutting because you have had your hair for so long and you might regret it later if you cut it real short, do some real hard thinking. I would like to see what you came up with.
