I was wanting to know what my best options are for a sound system in a 63 impala. Right now there is an old kenwood tape deck that doesnt work in it. No speakers in it either. I was thinking of some 4-way 6 by 9s in rear dash. Now what I need to know is is about 2-10 inch JL audios in a box that my neighbor just gave me. Never had woofers in a car. Do I need an amp? What kind? Can it mount to the box? Also what kind of CD player to get? Kind of on a budget. Thanks if you can hepl!

Yes you will need an amp for the subs, which amp all depends on which subs he gave you. Since JL makes like 7 different lines of subs, need to know which one you have (W0, W1, W2, etc,,,).
As for the stereo, look into Alpine or Pioneer, check out ebay, you can usually find a great deal on there for a stereo. Other than that I have a Panasonic that is collecting dust in my garage. It is a few years old though, but still works great. Plays MP3's from CDR and CDRW. I just does not play DVD. Has 3 pre amp outs at 2 volts. Has pretty good sound. In decent condition. Email me and I can give you a price and pics as well. The face does come off, I have the case for that and I think I remember where the remote is for the deck as well. It does have a scratch on the face though, but does not interfer with reading the digital read out or the reception of the remote. In good working order.
