is it just me or do other people feel this way
i think baseball was more exciting ten years ago when Big Mac-Slammy Sammy-Bonds-Piazza-A-Rod-Juan Gonzalez-Rafael Palmeiro-Ken Griffey Jr.-EXC

not saying they all used steroids but baseball was more exciting with steroids

cause i think Home Runs are what made baseball better than football 10 years ago but since there cleaning up now everyone wants to see the big hits in the NFL now people cant enjoy violent tackles anymore (screw you goodell) soo now everyone has to watch hockey for fights there

any who who else thinks baseball was better with steroids?

The fact that ANYONE would think that baseball was better with steroids is, in my opinion, a reflection of the fact that the younger fans don't really learn the game the way those of us who are a bit longer in the tooth did. It's not that these younger fans aren't as intelligent as we older fans, they just have been taught the game in a different manner.
Nowadays, baseball has become,at least to a lot of people, a collection of highlights they see on Sportscenter, Baseball Tonight or any of the other sports programs. They see nothing but home runs and diving catches. They don't realize that the game is very often won by a player hitting to the right side to get a man to third base. Or a player laying down a good bunt. Or a well turned double play. The fans now want to see the BIG things, and they want to see a game all wrapped up in about a 2 minute highlight package.

Perhaps the best thing for baseball would be to actually educate these younger fans about the WHOLE game. Then maybe they would realize that there is more to the game than just 450' home runs. It's a shame that the average fan's intelligence has slipped so much, and that most fans can't appreciate the entire game.

The same could be said for hockey fans who tune in only for the fights. They simply have not been educated about the entire game.
