The main reason most of them don't go into space is because they lack the necessary military training. Most astronauts come from military backgrounds such as jet fighters. They are trained to handle the forces placed on their body. I'm sure given the necessary training a 'nerd' could become an astronaut. They just spend their lives learning about space instead of jets. It's only in recent years that civilians have been allowed, so you can expect in the future lots more nerds to go into space.</blockquote>
