need opinion, what to do? It my dads 2006 Outback 2.5i, (yeah i know, thats the year after the leaking heads were fixed) i do ALL of the maintanance, synthetic oil changes every 3,000-3,500miles. Coolant every 30-35,000 with the conditioner (yes, Subaru's own conditioner) , spark plugs every 50,000. All things that should help to keep the heads from going, or so i've heard. also, the Air filter every15,000-20,000, brake fluid every15,000 also, a bottle of injector cleaner every 3,000 as the bottle recommends you do. (Im sure its not necessary, i do it anyway.)The car has 107,000 miles, however, it started to leak a little bit at around 90,000. Does the warrenty for head gaskets go until 100k, if it does im really mad, because i thought i should just wait it out, and see how bad it got, as i thought the warrenty ended at 60,000.(powertrain warrenty) So, i am 15 years old, and am very good with cars, i think that my dad should just get it fixed ($2000!!!!!!!) and continue to drive and own the car. However, in an arguement he will ALWAYS win, and he truly believes he should just sell the car, and get either a new Outback or the New Forester. I think the car has a bit to go yet. (at least 250,000 miles)- haha, The car has really been maintained well. The original brakes were replaced at 93,000. - pretty good- . The only problem the car had untill now was a crankshaft seal leak at 105k, good timing, had the belt changed then as well.
So what should my dad do, sell it, or buy a new Subaru?
is there any chance that if i tell this story to the dealer they would cover at least some of the 2000 to fix it? It really did start at 90k, and has been maintained perfectly!
Is there anything that i can do?- seriously, im good with cars.
The cars miles are ALL highway. So i dont know how 2,400RPM for 107k was bad for it - it wasn't but what made the heads go so quickly? -just a bad batch?
if it means anything, the leaking gasket is the one on the passenger side. (by the oil filter)
B.T.W., his last car was a 02' 4cyl Outback, he got rid of at 100K. - it never had a leaking head problem.- ironic.
