Syncing problem with LG Chocolate 3, Please help?

Whenever i connect my LG Chocolate 3 (Verizon) to a computer or any other usb port, it gives me an option to either sync "Music" or "Data". I figured data would include pictures and what not but whenever i choose to sync data, nothing happens. It just goes back to the home page on my phone and the computer won't even recognize it at all. It's not just my computer either, i've tried it on my Xbox and friends' computers too. Does anyone else have this problem or know how to fix it?
