T-Mobile ToGo Activation Code?

so heres the thing, i was given an unactivated t mobile sim card and a working phone for free, unfortunately no paperwork came with it and i cant seem to activate it without an "activation code". i tried calling tmobile(the wait time sucks ass), and i tried online but the both ask for it. is there any way around this, or a way i could get a code for free? any help would be greatly appreciated.
