T-mobile users?

I'm thinking of switching to T-mobile. I was planning to buy a phone online. I chose the indiviual plan 29.99 a month plus unlimtited text, which would make my phone bill around 50$ a month. If I am not mistaken my first phone will would be around 80$, but I am hearing from some people that My first phone bill would be 250$. It says nothing online about that, So I just wanted to make sure before I go through with it. do they really charge you that much?
 
Why T-Mobile? Why not look into Sprint and the SERO plan. For $30 a month you get 500 Any Time Minutes, unlimited Text, unlimited Nights and Weekends, unlimited Internet (Data). Plus you will have way better coverage than T-Mobile.

The $205 cost people have told you, probably includes the phone as well.
