Tar on in hoofs and on heels !!?

today my pony got tar stuck on his front left and his back left hoofs. Iv been told my yard owner that it wont hurt him in anyway as long as none stones ect got stuck on it and i get as most as i can off it ,which i did. Anyone recommend anyway to get it off, do you think it could hurt him and be uncomfortable. Iv also got a 3day showjumping competition in a week, so i would like to have it off by then x

help please :)
 
It should wear off by then. If not try Goo Gone. It's a citrus product that won't hurt him, but should help dissolve the tar. Be careful of using commercial tar removers for clothes or cars as they have chemicals that could hurt him.
