Telus plan changed to a lower price & i've been overpaying?

I have a simple mobile phone with a very simple plan.(unlimited text 200 minutes 54.34 i was paying)

Called them a little while ago about an issue with text i been having and the chick had told me she can't cancel my services obviously, but she can give me a plan for 35 a month with my same plan plus an extra 100 minutes it came with.

When they change your plan to a lower price like a $20 difference that is a big difference added up.
Should they credit my account for this?
Can i fight them about getting out of this contract because i've been overpaying for who knows how long?

PS ive wanted to get out of this contract for ages, on my last year with them but im not willing to pay 250 bucks to get out, im a student.

Just wondering if this is an issue i can get credit for because i've been overpaying alot.
