Temp Worker requesting time off/vacation?

I started working at a company as an unpaid intern in June 2011. In November 2011, they offer me a paid position as a temp via an temp agency. My family wants me to join them on their family vacation in may. Because my company only works, monday-friday i will only need 5 days off. I know i have to let my supervisor and the temp agenciy know about this. I am wondering if i am allowed to take 5 days off as a temp and when should i notify my supervisor? What should i tell them?

Tell them your family has a vacation planned and you were hoping to be able to go on vacation with them. As a temp, you probably have not qualified for paid vacation and if the company really needs someone, your options may be to take the five days off plus all the days after it or show up at work.
