The air blowing through the vents in the house are noisy, how can I quiet them?

It is a rushing wind sound, not like a clanging or ringing. It also gets much louder when it is about to shut off as it has reached the desired temp. This is for the A/C. My husband covers the vent with a pillow at night but it gets too hot even with the other vent uncovered. Is there a solution?

AC needs higher air speed (CFM) than heating mode. If the air speed is too low, or your husband restricts air flow by plugging the registers, this will freeze up your evaporator coil that sits above the blower and cause major problems to the cooling system. There is a possibility that your HVAC company could slow the blower down a little bit. The other problem is that your ducts could be sized too small.
