The anime,"Monster", is overrated?

Hey guys, I was looking for a good anime like death note and some people recommended Monster. It had really good reviews and I tried watching it, again.. I watched monster until about episode 20 a year ago and I got really really bored. I decided to give it a second chance and I rewatched it and im at epsioe 9 currently it was okay at the beginning but later on it began going down hill. I dont know how people compare Mosnter to Death Note. Death note is far more superior in my opinion and its kind of a shame how people say that Monster is such a great anime. Why is the anime so great? Its really boring right now and Im expecting it to be as good as people say it is. So can you guys tell me if this is all Im supposed to expect throughout the whole series , boringness? So my question is what is so great about this award winning anime/manga.
