I'm not a huge Beatles fan. I (somewhat) recently fell in love with their music through the "1" album and later "Sgt. Pepper" and "Abbey Road". So I definitely haven't been a longtime fan.

But since I've been loving their music I've decided I really want the whole 9.9.09 Beatles Box Set. The logical choice for me was to get Stereo as I've come to know that it's generally better than Mono. But reading up on these box sets it seems the Mono versions are much preferred.

For someone like me just getting into the Beatles do you think it'll really be a problem for me and that I should go with the Mono? Even with the higher price tag?

Are you sure your not trying to download it off somewhere? Lol

In the early 60's records were recorded in both Mono and Stereo, because many people did not have a Stereo player, even though Stereo was available from 1957. Stereo is the natural preference. I don't know why they say mono is preferred. I prefer to listen to the songs of the Beatles as instrumental numbers, played by various orchestras for spectacular arrangements and sound.

Hi Kyle, not sure how old you are or how you listen to your music but I think I would reccommend the stereo set for someone fairly new to the band.
I think mono might be a little difficult to listen to if your not used to it. There are also various myths that have sprung up over the years about the mono stuff, some of it is not that great.
I think 'Sgt Pepper' is better in mono but some of their earlier stuff I find a bit grating in mono and much prefer the stereo.
So, it's up to you but I think the mono is very much for the die hards, I'd get the stereo one.
I can't tell you how much I envy you, discovering their muic for the first time, I can remember when I was a kid and each new album/single brought all these wonderful surprises.
