Tens of thousands of runners were present at the starting line of today's*Boston Marathon, despite temperatures in the high 80s. But as many as 4,300 registered racers*dropped out following warnings from officials that, for those who weren't used to running in the heat, the lengthy race could be excessively dangerous.
