Time. The time is now to bring families back together again to the family fine dining room table.
The table, a particular table, is where Jesus sat before the twelve to give thanks. The room where the table was, is most unique. It was the identity of a man bearing a pitcher of water: Jesus instructed Peter and John, to go and prepare us the passover, that we may eat. They had no clue of the location of the prepared table. Luke 22:7-9
Peter and John were instructed to follow this man, into the house where he entereth in. Luke 22:10
Jesus instructed them with the words to speak to this man with the pitcher of water, ask him, Where is the guestchamber, where I shall eat the passover with my disciples?. The perfect example of of "PROVISION." Jesus went on to say, He shall shew you a large upper room furnished: there make ready. Luke 22:12
When the hour came, Jesus sat down with the twelve apostles with him. They were not scattered in various rooms to dine before the Master; they were seated at the table together. He desired to eat the passover with them before he was to suffer. Luke 22:15
Jesus took the CUP, and gave thanks, and said, Take this, and divide it among yourselves. Luke 22:17
Then Jesus took bread, and gave thanks, and brake it, and gave unto them, saying, This is my body which is given for you : this do in remembrance of me. Luke 22:18-19
The hand that was to betray Jesus was announced again, at that very table. Luke 22:21-22. Created to be destroyed anyway!
But he answered and said , It is written , Man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word that proceedeth out of the mouth of God. Matthew 4:4
And he took bread, and gave thanks ,and brake it, and gave unto them, saying , This is my body which isgiven for you: this do in remembrance of me. Luke 22:19
Remembering, the many times Big Mama blessed the food while we were all seated around the table to to fine dine. The candelabra was the center piece. Not only was she setting the table all those years, but she was setting an example. I was watching. Now, I love to set fine tables with LOVE! I love candles very much! This is why the "Candle Edifice" was birthed.
Chatting with family before dinner in the fine family room is essential and vitally important. Families are broken and divided with personal and selfish distractions, never finding the quality time to fellowship, engage and embrace. The glue that keeps a family united and connected is missing.
Remembering, dinner was near ready and while waiting, my family would gather in the fine living room and talk about everything. The conversation continued at the dinner table. Many things were discovered, and it was easy to detect a problem and potential concerns on various faces.
Now, we hide in the privacy of our bedrooms, studies, computer rooms, offices working the entire night away, and we hide in our own personal private selfish lives. Lost in fast foods lines, not realizing many of the unknowns. There is nothing to compare a mother, father, grandmother in the kitchen preparing a healthy meal for the family with love in the heart for the family.
Now, we trust strangers to purchase, store, clean, prepare, cook and serve our families. The best conversation in our busy lives goes like this, "May I Have Your Order, Will that be all, Is there anything else, and thank you and do come again." We often eat in the car while driving home. When we arrive at home, we go into our personal comfortable places and rooms.
Not all of us, but many of us.
I hope a television producer or station will host a show to feature families all over America fine dining at home with family. Eating out is a treat, fast foods are delicious but why have we replaced the family fine dining time.
I hope to see families setting their tables again, cooking in the kitchen together, having a set dinner time to unite and connect with family. Having a young person in the family play the piano, reciting poetry or sharing accomplishments after dinner, or before dinner. Taking a long walk together as a family after dinner.
Teaching young children how to set a dinner table and to properly use the silverware outward to inward. Where to and when to discard chewing gum (I have a personal testimony with the gum at the Mansion on Turtle Creek...lol). We never chewed gum before a meal, we lived on wine candy. The Mansion on Turtle Creek was my very first fine dining experience and I wondered what to do with the gum that was in my mouth.
We can eat in, and we can eat out, but the family dinner table time being absent is costing more than we know. Relationships are missing, and instructions from parents are missing and now children are raising themselves without proper parenting.
Going into homes on a Friday, Saturday and Sunday to observe family time which is quality time to strengthen the family foundation. Recording and taking pictures might help bring again mily foundation.
