Hi,

From the general impression I get, Christians who believe in the trinity, seem to think that the concept of the trinity has existed in the Bible since the the start.

If this were the case, before Jesus one would expect to find some references to a triune figure head in the Old Testament. I'll accept verses such "let us make man in our image" and such offer textual ambiguity, however Jews have seen these has God either using a royal we, or addressing his heavenly court.

So what I am asking is are the any specific references to the trinity in the Old Testament? The example I gave above wouldn't count as "our" doesn't necessitate a triune God either, it could indicate an multiplicity. Such as the Grace of God, The Spirit of God, God and the Son.

Secondly for extra bonus points, if the concept of the trinity is to be found in the Old Testament, wouldn't any of the Jewish Scholars that debate extensively in the Talmud, pick up on this, if they have where?
@Jcampbell

Pretty sure the book of John isn't in the OT, but coupled with the rest of what you said, isn't that a pretty big omission from the OT?

@Fr. Alexander

Actually I disagree with your first point, it could be, I feel there is more textual support for it being God addressing his heavenly court.

I don't mean to be rude but, you didn't really offer anything to support the notion of the Trinity in the OT, which is what I was after.
