If a parent tells their child to lie about something then what shoudl the child do according to religion. Religion says not to lie but not to lie in this situation would not be honoring their parents.
There was a similar senario like this in romeo and juliet. Her father told her to marry a certain man but she was already married to romeo. either way she is commiting a sin becasue she is going agains her fathers wishs or marrying a man when she is already married to another one. I have also heard a religous theory that humans are not gods because they have sin in them. These are the types of situation that froce us to have sin. We must choose what we think is the lesser of two evils.(in this situation it isnt clear which is the lesser of the evils) A god does not.
