When the council skimmed the walls before I moved in, they skimmed the plaster right on to the skirting board. So now it's all cracked. Stairs move when you walk on them. Especially old stairs that have survived at least one fire and been there since the 1950s!I also have to strip back layers of paint that has been there since the 50s. There are bubbles in the paint I can run a sander over and they still don't burst. I need to strip the paint off properly. But I really don't want to lift my fitted carpet.And a note to council tradesmen. Silicone is not an all purpose hole filler. Sometimes plaster or poly-filler really is better!</blockquote>
