Islam is a widespread ideology in the sense that it seeks to advertise a “way of life”. That is by having a specific lifestyle. Having a specific lifestyle and living by a moral code which does not originate from thy own brain, but the morals of a book and teachings of OTHER people creates a specific mainstream mentality that is seen, not on all Muslims, but on the majority, giving it a somewhat definition of a stereotype.
Disclaimer: This mentality is in no way represented in all Muslim's mind, but the majority. Which means there is a chance that you, as a Muslim, may not suffer from this. But unfortunately it seems that a lot of Muslims do, and since this “mentality” is in fact closely related to the “Muslim way of life”, it can be generalized as an “islamic mentality”.
As to the description of this “islamic mentality”, it can be described as a cognitive miser. This is the scientific term for one of the characteristics called “my side”-bias. It simply means “the tendency to reason from an egocentric perspective.”
In other words, it can refer to the Muslims as being egoists. Now before we make any wild assumptions, we may look at the definition of the word “egoism”:
“The tendency to think of self and self-interest.
The belief that moral behavior should be directed toward one's self-interest.”
This logic is common in the world of Islam since the holy book Qur'an is considered the only truth. Therefore, the Qur'an is the egocentric center of Islam. Since it is closely related to the “Muslim way of living”, it is a part of the common Muslim's mentality, thus making Muslims egoists in that sense.
Various Universities that test dysrationalia (the lack of rational thinking) have found cognitive misers to be a sub-group. The “my-side”-bias illustrates a tendency to evaluate a situation from our own perspective. In the Muslim's situation, from the Islamic/Qur'anic perspective. They weight evidence and make moral judgments with a my-side bias that often leads to dystrationalia.
It is the rational thinking, that the “Muslim way of life” lacks and this is what makes this religion "unfair".
If you disagree, please state what part you disagree in.
