I think one of the lines was Save Me.
The guitar would build up from one chord, to the next, to the next. That would be the first 7beats, and then on the 8th beat, the singer would sing "Save Me" or it could have been change me, take me, shave me.

I'm not sure the name of the band. I heard it in 1996 on a radio station that's not around anymore, and haven't heard it since.
