Tim Lincecum has struggled this season. It’s been nearly two months since he’s last won a game. On Wednesday, Lincecum finally got back on the winning track. And he picked a perfect time. In leading the San Francisco Giants to a 3-0 victory over the Los Angeles Dodgers, he pushed the Giants into first place tie with the Dodgers.

In seven innings, Lincecum allowed four hits and two walks while striking out eight batters. The win improved his record on the season to 3-8 while lowering his ERA to 5.60. The Giants got on the board when Miguel Cabrera hit an RBI double in the third inning. It turned out that’s all San Francisco needed.

Both the Giants and the Dodgers are 43-33 on the season. Only the Washington Nationals (43-30) have a better record in the National League.

If Lincecum can keep pitching like he did on Wednesday night, the Giants are going to be difficult to cool off.
