Because actors and athletes aren't being paid with my tax dollars. How is Government Motors doing in comparison to Ford?

Let's put it this way: LeBron James and Britney Spears sell A LOT of tickets. If they don't sell tickets (or CDs or downloads or whatever), they can't command big salaries.

By contrast, CEOs of big companies are earning huge salaries EVEN WHEN THEY RUN THE COMPANY INTO THE GROUND.

See the difference?

...athletes in your rants? You don't really believe actors and athletes deserve the ridiculous amounts they make do you?

I don't have a problem with the pay of CEO's. Most have worked hard to earn it, but I don't believe in them using stimulus money to give millions in bonuses such as they did in 2008.

You left out Fanny, Freddy's, GM's, and chryslers CEO's all took tarp and none have payed it back.

ACTORS DONT GET 1 mill bonuses for doing a bad job

they get FIRED

ha ahah ahahhahahahahhahahah

i don't think they deserve the money that they make, the people who pay them belive that they deserve the money that they make and thats there call,

Well CEOS make more, but yes, I think athletes and movie stars are overpaid. The solution is simple - raise taxes on the rich to the levels they were in the 1950s, the Golden Age of the US economy. Taxes on the rich were high, union membership was high, the American Dream was the reality for millions, and our economy was booming. We paid off the debt from WWII, built massive infrastructure (the Interstate Highway System, for example), had the best military in the world, etc., etc. Reagan and the Neocons destroyed the American Dream with their trickledown BS.

The CEO of Microsoft makes what? A few million a year? Barry Bonds made a few million a year when he played. No prob here. No debate or arguement.

Just one little tiny question......who put more people to work?
ok...I lied, another little tiny question....in a 12 month period, how many cars did Barry buy , how much $ did Barry spend at the grocery store, how many movies did Barry go see, how many ice creams did Barry buy at his local BaskinRobbins, or times he went to a restuarant? Now.......how about a years worth did Microsoft employees spend in 12 months?

The athletes and actors are a problem too. Remember, you are paying for excess be it a CEO or an actress. YOU are paying their salaries, in the form of higher prices, and lower wages which you must work for to allow the CORPs money leftover to pay the CEOs exorbitant salaries and bonuses.

I can only speak for pro athletes. As a retired NFL player I can tell you that I began my football career at age 4, while other kids "played" I worked and developed my skills. In Jr High while other kids enjoyed summer vacations I pulled a tire across a pasture and pushed a homemade blocking sled miles everyday. In High school while other kids were eating pizza and drinking beer I was watching my diet and working out in the gym 4 days a week and running 3 days a week. At 22 when I signed my contract I had never owned a car an apartment or even a nice pair of shoes. I'd say I earned that first 7 million. The rest was based on my performance after that point.
Most CEO's are hired based on who they know not what they know or how hard they work.
