The Los Angeles Angels needed a starting pitcher. Enter Tommy Hansen, formerly of the Atlanta Braves. The Braves received Jordan Walden in return for the hurler.
Tommy Hansen was once a top prospect but he has faded in recent years. In fact, last season he had the worst year of his career. The 26-year-old posted a 4.48 ERA and a 1.45 WHIP.
As for Walden, he was really good as recently as 2011. That season, he had 32 saves for the Angels along with a 2.98 ERA. The Braves won’t use Walden at closer but he’ll supply good bullpen depth.
