Been about 10 days since my tonsillectomy, Feeling.. pretty much healed. Wondered how long it'll be till I can smoke (cigarettes) or drink (lager).. looked all over the internet for the answer, most people said 2-6 weeks until you can smoke cigarettes, drink alcohol as they thin the blood, also until you can use straws, eat toast etc. I thought nothing of it.. until when I remembered waking up straight after the op.. they gave me cold water.. with a straw. Also about 3 pieces of toast.. and offered more several times.. that day.. and more toast.. the next day. They said numerous times "It should not bleed at all.. but obviously if it hypothetically did, you'd ring 999 obviously" So in my mind I'm thinking maybe my recent UK op is different to the US op.. or maybe it was done differently, therefore I'm seriously debating whether to drink/smoke in a couple of days or not...........
