Less than a day after his younger brother died in a motorcycle accident, Torrey Smith of the Baltimore Ravens was back on the football field. Not only did he play, he was the hero for the Ravens as they defeated the New England Patriots by a final score of 31-30.
Torrey Smith finished with 127 receiving yards and two touchdowns. After Smith caught a TD pass with four minutes remaining in the game to pull within two points, the Ravens were able to get a field goal as time expired to pull out the one-point win.
After the game, Torrey Smith’s thoughts were with his brother.
Said the wide receiver: “It was tough. I didn’t know until 4 o’clock if I was going to play. I only had like an hour of sleep. Emotionally, I didn’t know how I was going to hold up.”
