Trifluoperazine for anxiety or schizophrenia?

Is it only used permanently for schizophrenia or can it be used permanently for anxiety as well? My Dad takes it everyday and has always taken it. Is it most likely he has anxiety or schizophrenia which one? Please no stupid answers. I can't ask him because I'm not allowed to talk to my parents about mental problems or emotions.
