Truck 'wires' issue..?

Our truck did not come with 'wires' - to hook up a trailer.
It has something that looks like wires used to be there, but if there were wires there, they've been cut off.

How can we fix these 'wires' up? IE: what are the steps, what do we purchase, and how do we attach it to the truck so we can have working lights on our trailer?
 
There are kits that you can get from auto parts stores to install trailer wiring. Just remember that messing with the wiring on a vehicle can cause big problems. I suggest that since you've seen remnants of just such a kit that you take the vehicle to your mechanic and have him check it out and possibly even install a new kit for you.
