I wasn't sure where to put this as its not a film question or a joke but i'm sure some helpful mod will move it if this is a dumb place ( ). I just wondered what are peoples favourite TV comedys. My favourite has to be the simpsons but Futurama comes a close second, the characters in both shows are just brilliant, from morbo the newsmonster in futurama to the inept lawyer lionel htz in the simpsons, they're all brilliant. I do also like little britain and dead ringers. Anybody else got some favourites?

Have I got news for you, family guy, and they are rerunning red dwarf on UKG2. There's just too many!

Blackadder for quality comedy.

Ali G and South Park for fast-food kinda comedy.

As far as cartoons are concerned, The Simpsons is a good everyday show. Futurama is something that couldn't be repeated as often as The Simpsons, but is probably funnier.

Out of everything else, Have I Got News For You, Black Adder, Red Dwarf, Dad's Army and 'Allo 'Allo (Listen *very* carefully, I will say this only once )

Men Behaving Badly - superb, its a way of life
Coupling - same producer of above, I love the way its written
Bottom - the young ones gotten old
South Park - the amount of times I've thought "they can't say that, surely!"
The Fast Show - some classic sketches, that QC chap is probably my favourite "I was very, very drunk"
The Mary Whitehouse Experience (taking me back a few years!)
Bo' Selecta - chamone!

red dwarf,
only fools and horses,
monty pythons flying circus,
simpsons,
futurama,
family guy

Woe...I'm the first Yankee to post in this thread.

Well, admittedly, I don't watch a whole lot of comedy on TV. But when I do, I watch The Simpsons and Arrested Development. If you've never watched AD, shame on you. Check it out.

Another Yank here, so I don't get all the same shows on TV as the Brits. My favorites are mostly old (and really old) shows, anyway. I like I Love Lucy, Leave It To Beaver, The Mary Tyler Moore Show, The Honeymooners, Are You Being Served?, Keeping Up Appearances, among others.

I'm not familiar with the new shows because I haven't watched network TV (other than for special events, like the Olympics) for years.

Simpsons, Family Guy, That 70's show, South Park is okay, and thats about it.

1. Trigger happy tv - legend
2. Ali G (da ali g show) - Only brits will truely understand
3. Any form of stand up (lee evans, peter kay)
4. Fawlty towers - old but great
5. Men behaving badly.

No one mentioned married with children? It my all time favorite

I like the simpsons , and the old flying circus and fawlty towers was great too.

eeerrr.. Isnt Friends concidered comedy? If it is it's up there with Married with Children..

yes this is the best list i seen so far

trigger happy is great (but so is most reality stuff like jackass) but trigger happy is great cuz its retarded and random

i recently found ali G he is the man. i also like gerard ranki (spelling?) he is pretty funny

i love stand up and Dane Cook is my fav.

idk 4 and5 but in there place i will put south park and monti pithon (spelling?)

and of course that 70's show just cuz its so great and realistic in somany ways

How could I have forgotten Fawlty Towers? (Flay Otters? Warty Towels?)

Very funny show! (I have all the episodes on videotape, and a book containing all the scripts!)

dammit, now you've all gone and reminded me how much i should cut down on my comedy TV watching, my list would have to be a top ten not five!

1. The Simpsons
2. Futurama
3. Black Books (how did i forget this one??)
4. Spaced (or this??!)
5. Da Ali G show
6. Dead ringers/2DTV (i can't decide, don't make me choose!)
7. Pheonix Nights
8. Fawlty Towers
9. South Park
10. Random stand up shows

consider this the revised, improved, possibly final, special edition list

Sorry if you're american and have never even heard of shows like spaced, you're really missing out
