Upgrade a Rogers Cell Phone?

I have a rogers phone now, and ive had it for 2 years and a half, I would like to upgrade, and get a new phone, but not a new plan, has anyone done this before, if you have explain to me, what I need to do, if I have to pay money for anew phone. ext.
