vacations on the east coast that dont require a car as means of transportation?

me and my boyfriend want to go on a mini vacation. maybe about 3 nights or so over a weekend. we dont have a car and are on somewhat of a budget. we live in nyc and want to visit another city on the eastcoast (already been to boston). recommendations please!
